Vision
Environmental Philosophy
We believe that what is good for the human body is also good for the planet. The two are inseparable. Industrial food production is among the leading causes of deforestation, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss on Earth. Every choice we make about food has environmental consequences.
At inSpiral we have made environmental responsibility central to everything we do:
- Organic sourcing: All our ingredients are certified organic wherever possible, supporting farming practices that build soil health rather than depleting it.
- Local first: We prioritise local suppliers and are actively developing a roof garden at the Lounge so we can grow some of our own produce on-site.
- Minimal packaging: We use biodegradable packaging and work to minimise waste across all our operations.
- Plant-based menu: A fully vegan menu has a fraction of the carbon footprint of an omnivorous one. Animal agriculture accounts for up to 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
- Community food growing: We are growing space #93 in the Mayor of London's Capital Growth Project, which aims to create 2,012 new community growing spaces across London.
- Composting: All organic waste from the kitchen is composted.
We also use our platform to raise awareness of environmental issues through our events programme, community pages and relationships with environmental campaigns and organisations.
"It's not all about you... but it's where it all starts. The choices we make about food have a massive impact not only on our personal well-being but on the wider world around us."
